Legs For Life was founded by the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), the national professional society of interventional radiologists, physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the vascular system.

Charleston Area Medical Center is joining more than 400 health facilities across the nation in Legs

 For Life® – National Screening for Vascular Disease. 

Vascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the United States. One of the common warning signs is leg pain caused by peripheral vascular, or arterial, disease (PVD or PAD), a sign of arteriosclerosis (clogged blood vessels) in the leg. Arteriosclerosis also is the primary cause of heart attack, the number one cause of death in the United States, stroke (No. 3) and abdominal aortic aneurysm (No. 17). 

The free 10-minute screenings for vascular diseases will be held at HeartFit, 3200 Chesterfield Ave. (next to Nautilus) from 9 a.m. to  12:15 p.m. and 1:15 to 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 .
